Survey for UK Furniture Manufacturers & Designer Makers
I would like to invite you complete my research survey, distributed to you with the kind support of Exova & The Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA).
I have been involved with the Furniture Manufacturing Industry for over 30 years, both in the UK and Overseas. I was awarded a Scholarship by the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) to undertake Doctoral (PhD) research in the area of Design for Sustainable Manufacturing at Brunel University London.
The aim of the Survey is to gauge current usage and perceptions of Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing Technologies) in the UK Furniture Industry. Similar surveys have been undertaken amongst overseas manufacturers, but to my knowledge none in the UK.
The overall focus of the research is the development of 'Environmentally Sustainable Smart Furniture' through the application of novel digital modelling, simulation and manufacturing technologies. A specific focus will be on the use of 4D printing with smart materials using robotic application technologies.
The results of this initial survey will serve as a foundation for the development of future research directions & strategies.
I would be very grateful indeed for a small amount of your time to complete the Survey, as the data will be invaluable. It should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
All data provided is anonymous and the Survey has been scrutinised and given approval for distribution by the Brunel University Research Ethics Comittee.
Thank you very much for your assistance it is very much appreciated !
