Unite will soon begin discussions with Tarmac CRH on a Pay Claim for 2019 (and potentially beyond).

Improvements to existing sick pay scheme

Improvements to existing pension scheme

Reductions in working time with no loss of pay

An increase in shift/callout/standby payments

Introduction of new technology agreement (this safeguards against current & future automation)

* 10. On occasion Unite will settle a "multi-year" Pay Deal. This involves us seeking agreement on a two, three or four year deal.

Would you be amenable to a multi-year deal or would you prefer the union to negotiate on an annual basis? Please check the box that best applies to you.

I would prefer to the union to negotiate a one year pay settlement for 2019. This will may help us catch up with previously inadequate pay settlements in recent years.

I would prefer a multi-year pay settlement. This will allow us to know what we can expect now and for set number of years ahead.

I have little preference so long as the settlement is fair and reasonable

As members will know there are ongoing negotiations around changes to the Way Ahead Agreement. Many of the changes are not controversial and are required by law. However, there are two areas in particular that are proving very controversial, these are: Proposed arrangements for managing additional hours worked and: Proposed changes to notice periods.

The first question is simple:

What is your view of the proposed changes (please check the box that applies to you):

I am against the proposed changes on additional hours and an increase in notice periods and want the union to negotiate a different set of arrangements

I don't work additional hours, however I am against the changes to notice periods

I have no issue with these proposed changes.

We are considering a range of possible options. Please check the boxes that best reflect a position you could endorse if asked in a ballot:

The WAA was initially brought in to up salaries and stop people working excessive overtime to top up low wages. Would you consider another rise in base salary in exchange for working up to an additional 210 hours per year?

Current base rates are acceptable. I would like to see a new deal on standby, call outs and overtime only.

I would consider an increase in notice periods as part of a package of proposals to improve the rewards for working additional hours and being called out.

I have no issue with the company's proposed arrangements and would be willing to accept what is being proposed.

I am willing to work additional hours and believe time and a half for all additional hours is fair

I believe that that there should be a standby rota and that I should be paid a daily or weekly allowance for simply carrying a standby phone.

I believe that there should be a standard payment applicable per call out in addition to being paid an additional hours allowance for time spent working during call out.

I believe that there should be a fair travel allowance paid for call out and travel time should be included as working hours and form part of paid hours during any call out.

If the salary base rates were increased again I would consider proposed arrangements around working additional hours.

I have no issue with the status quo and find the current proposed changes acceptable.
