1. Introduction

Welcome to the 2021 annual IIM Interim Management Survey.
This 12th edition of our survey is impacted by the triple effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Brexit and IR35 extension across the private and third sectors.

This year's survey is therefore more comprehensive than usual to help you, the IIM and the interim industry as a whole understand the impacts of these critical issues.
The 2021 survey has expanded to take account of the three industry challenges. We do understand it is a large survey and will take about half an hour to consider and answer appropriately.

We very much appreciate your assistance in this pivotal year.

Thank you for starting the survey at this challenging time.

Our thoughts are again with those who have been critically impacted physically, personally, financially.
Should you have concerns about content or question clarity in this year's survey, please email simonc.jones@iim.org.uk in the first instance. Your feedback is also welcomed at the end of the survey.

Question Title

Survey Timing

The core of this survey covers the twelve-month period from May 2020 to April 2021.

The survey opens on Friday the 1st of May at 00:00 am and closes on Monday the 31st of May at 23.59 pm.

The survey ISP tier winners will be published on Monday the 5th of July from 8.00 am on the IIM's LinkedIn Group and Twitter.

The main survey report will be published the following week and available at the IIM website.

Participants will notice the 2021 Annual Survey is no longer in two parts. There is a 'skip' question before the interim service provider (ISP) questions asking if you wish to complete the ISP pages. A 'No' answer will take you to the end of the survey for a quick survey feedback question before pressing the 'Done' button to submit all your survey answers.

Please note, the survey must be completed in one session of about half an hour, as it is not possible to save a mid-point and return at a later day/time.

This survey is only for interim managers and executives, defined as independent people operating at board or near board level who are 'normally' on gross day rates of £500+ (or gross equivalents for PAYE, Fixed Term Contract (FTC), or project fees basis), except for certain Public Sector interims (e.g. NHS) with gross rates sub-£500 equivalent per day.

If you are otherwise a contractor (sub-£500), a prospective interim manager, an interim service provider or client, then we have no questions for you at this time (but thanks for coming by).
