The Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013 aims to make Wales a walking and cycling nation.

Under this legislation, Powys has 11 designated localities.  The authority has a statutory duty to map the existing active travel routes and work with interested stakeholders to develop an integrated network so as to enable more short journeys within the town to be undertaken by foot or bicycle.
