3 in 5 people will be Carers at some point in their lives and the King’s Fund and NHS England have highlighted some of the challenges and issues that Carers face. The Carers Trust defines a Carer as 'anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member due to illness.'
The Family Centred Care Project has been launched within DCHSFT to raise the awareness of the challenges that Carers may face. DCHSFT wants to be an organisation that supports its staff that take on a caring role in their personal life.
