Supported by Seafood Scotland, the Scottish Seafood Association and the Scottish Salmon Producers' Organisation, this fish processing survey is being carried out by Zero Waste Scotland to map both the seafish processing supply chain and the farmed fish processing supply chain in Scotland

Please note that the survey does not include shellfish.

The project aims to understand and characterise waste and by-products arising from fish handling and processing, and to feed these findings back to industry, in order to increase profitability and innovation within the sector.

For the purposes of this project only we are defining “waste” and “by-products” as follows (i.e. these are not legal definitions):

“Waste” refers to any materials from your processing which you believe are being composted, anaerobically digested or landfilled.

“By-products” refers to any  materials from your processing which you believe have value to end customers without any processing, or have value generated from further processing.

The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete and is open to all fish processors.

If you are an added value processor or would like to discuss this research in greater detail, please contact Brian Menzies on 01569 764883 or brianmenzies@enscape.eu

You will not be identifiable in any reports produced from this work. Your responses to this survey will be aggregated within the formal report and will remain confidential.
