Thank you for agreeing to take part in our survey of Chemistry and Materials related businesses in the North West.  This is part of a bid to secure £25m of funding to support local businesses in the profitable application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital technology and automation.

This funding is being made available through a UK government ‘Strength in Places’ initiative and collaborators led by the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s Hartree Centre at Daresbury, has been successful in getting through to the final selection stages.

Working with partners including the University of Liverpool the Royce Institute, they are looking to develop a major new innovation support initiative to assist industry across the M56/M62 corridor (taking in Liverpool, through to Cheshire/Warrington and on to Greater Manchester).

This survey is to assess the AI, digital technology and automation needs of businesses of all sizes (from start-ups to multinationals) to build a strong evidence-based business case for investment and how best this investment can be used to support the chemistry and materials industry in the region.

It is a key opportunity to help shape how this funding – if successful – should be invested in the North West.

This is part of a long-term engagement between research institutions and industry to support growth of businesses and high value jobs.  Our work to date has shown we have world-leading expertise in digital technology and that it can deliver business value.  Our aim is to position this region as a globally recognised innovator in the use of AI to drive innovation and productivity in materials chemistry activities.

Please note that all responses will be treated as confidential and the survey’s analysis will not allow for individual respondents to be identified. The survey should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete.
