From last year's global research one of the interesting statistics was that roughly 80% of organisations were relying on the supplier relationship to ensure continuity of supply. Yet only 12% of organisations were considered leaders in supplier management, which suggests much effort will be wasted unless structure, process, technology and training are invested in.
As the world reawakens and industries come back on stream, demand for suppliers goods and services will often outstrip supply. We will need to work harder to be considered for the latest innovations, the suppliers 'A' team, scarce resource and preferential pricing. All things we know a 'customer of choice' receives.
