Introduction

Thank you for applying for Sleep Counsellor Training. The training will be held in Edinburgh in February 2020, with an additional session on a date to be agreed.

This application will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is divided in three sections about your personal details, previous experience and background and some additional information.

Please note, the full fee for the training will be levied for anyone who has their application approved and who cancels within one month prior to the first day of the training.

* 5. Please carefully read the following criteria required for participation in this training. Tick ALL the boxes to indicate that you have read and understood the course participant criteria.

A. Background in working with children and young people with additional support needs.

B. A condition of attending the training is that you subsequently run a Sleep Counselling Service (at least 2.5 hours fortnightly). Your first sleep clinic appointment should take place within the month after the course.

C. Sleep Counsellors must not charge parents or carers for their services.

D. Sleep Counsellors primarily work in pairs; therefore it would be useful, but not essential, if two people were sent for training from your organisation.

E. It is important that you have the support of your management.

F. Acceptance of Sleep Scotland’s Sleep Counselling Protocol of Good Practice, including committing to keep Sleep Scotland
up to date about their sleep counselling work.

G. Details of sleep counselling services throughout the UK are made available through the Sleep Scotland website. Sleep counsellors will be given the opportunity to provide information on their referral criteria and process.
