The Role

The VP, Commercial Sales will lead our rapidly growing SMB and Mid-market segments. With responsibility for SurveyMonkey’s two largest segments, this role will report directly to the SVP, North America Sales. The VP, Commercial sales will be responsible for leading a team of Sales Directors and Managers to drive new business and expansion in our SMB and Mid-Market businesses. In this role, you will meet and exceed new and existing business quotas while helping to integrate and build our sales model. You will be a coach and a mentor, set the tone and strive for results. You will cultivate a team culture aligned to SurveyMonkey’s core values with a focus on performance, accountability, professionalism and teamwork.


  • Lead the SMB and Mid-Market Sales segments, driving the teams to hit their quarterly and annual goals
  • Manage a high growth organization and set sales strategies and programs to achieve account and revenue goals
  • Consistent and accurate business management including business planning, evaluation of key performance metrics, accurate summaries and analysis of activity, results and forecasts
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Sales team, including mentoring, coaching & development to drive quota attainment
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, PMM and Ops to understand and implement initiatives to drive pipeline and bookings and to improve effectiveness and productivity
  • Partner with the business development team to ensure there is a cohesive strategy in place to drive pipeline across the business development team and the AEs
  • Provide strategic guidance, insight and knowledge about market trends, customer attitudes, and effectiveness of sales strategies
  • Foster continuous improvement; ensure that all sales activities (sales calls, pipeline development, account planning, customer account reviews, etc.) are efficient, effective and scalable
  • Develop and maintain a regular communication cadence with all levels of the organization
  • Provide clear and regular communication to sales teams relative to company direction, performance and achievements
  • Ensure 100% customer satisfaction and retention


  • A proven sales hunter, closer and leader with deep SaaS experience
  • 7+ years of sales leadership at the Director/Sr Director level, ideally leading a 100+ person organization
  • Ideally has experience in a start-up environment as well as a larger, established business. Experience driving a new sales motion and establishing structure and rigor.
  • BA/BS degree required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Superior professional presence and business acumen
  • Strong leadership skills and desire to set the tone and culture of our growing sales team, with strong written and verbal communication skills
