About the Team

The Financial Planning and Analysis team is a diverse team (currently made up of corporate finance professionals, investment bankers, and Big 4 auditors/accountants) who partner with business leaders to conduct high-impact analysis and deliver recommendations to drive critical decisions. It establishes the short- and long-term financial objectives of the organization, measures performance against these objectives, and supports course-correction to meet these objectives. We roll up our sleeves and put our minds to work on SurveyMonkey’s most impactful initiatives.

The Role

SurveyMonkey recently hired a new CFO who is looking for a strong VP of Financial Planning & Analysis to drive public company rigor and sophistication to the FP&A function. This person will be the right hand to the new CFO and will help build out strong, scalable FP&A processes and a world class FP&A team. From capital allocation to strategic planning to accounting to tax to treasury, budgeting and forecasting, our group supports all aspects of the business to make sure SurveyMonkey grows responsibly. Your Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the CFO and business leaders to oversee the company’s quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes
  • Lead strategic financial planning efforts including buildout of the long-range plan (3-5 year financial plan)
  • Build deep and trusted partnerships with senior leaders across the organization to help optimize and strategize around investment decisions
  • Provide ongoing mentorship, training, and development of direct and indirect reports; organization is currently ~13 finance professionals
  • Ensure consistent monthly, quarterly and annual communication of results, forecasts and action plans to executive management, department heads and other business partners
  • Support key financial decisions (e.g. prioritize new growth opportunities, cost savings efforts, spend portfolio planning) by leading the team to produce financial models that will enable recommendations to senior management
  • Bring new thinking and ways of doing things to the function, as appropriate, including analyzing and pushing new metrics and performance indicators to help identify trends
  • Continually improve processes and ensure consistencies, drive change as necessary, and elevate the level of reporting for the overall company, subsidiaries and individual departments; leverage automation (e.g., RPA) wherever possible to drive efficiency and create path to better scale organization
  • Be forward thinking and focus on continually developing information, trends and instincts to help predict issues before they occur
  • Evaluate forecasting and planning systems; drive system optimization efforts to increase productivity and accuracy of the entire FP&A team and support critical analyses to business partners
  • Play a key role in the creation of Board materials
  • Partner with investor relations and other constituencies around quarterly earnings cycle, analyst days and other ad-hoc events


  • FP&A leadership at public, multinational high-tech companies, preferably with SaaS business models
  • Strong track record building, leading and mentoring high-performing teams

  • Attention to detail and the highest standards for accuracy and precision
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred
