Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 25th May, Craven District Council, Skipton BID and Craven District Council have been working together to create a safe environment to enable trading to resume on Skipton High Street, for the market traders, the High Street premises and the public.

We have provisionally agreed with traders of Skipton Market that trading will resume on Wed 10th June 2020. To manage the market safely and with appropriate social distancing we are proposing that the market is limited to only Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We are looking at measures we can put in place on the High Street to help with social distancing. This includes putting a road closure in place on the High Street on market days. This could operate from 10am – 4pm between Jerry Croft and the roundabout at the bottom of the High St on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays during the coming months. Market stalls would then be able to face towards the road where their customers can queue so as to not come into contact with the High Street shop customers and their social distancing queues.
