#WeCare Award finalists

Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a member of staff for the 2020 #WeCare Award.

Four officers have been shortlisted from those nominations and now you have the chance to have your final say and choose your winner.

This award is about the community having the chance to tell us about an officer that deserves recognition.

Question Title

* 1. Who would you like to win the #WeCare Award?

PC ALED DAVIES, LLANELLI, CARMARTHENSHIRE DIVISION:
PC 375 Aled Davies has been nominated for the work he has carried out in, and the contribution he has made to turn the town centre around.

This is what you told us about Aled:

“Llanelli has had a bad reputation for such a long that we, as the Business Improvement District, felt it was time to try and change things.

“Business in the town centre didn’t feel safe, it was a fact so we told Dyfed-Powys Police we needed a dedicated town centre officer. Aled arrived in town last year and has made a huge difference to daily life. Since he has been in town, the crime numbers have decreased and good will has increased. He deals with incidents effortlessly and it always ready with a kind word and smile.

“He is always open to working in partnership with every agency involved – not always an easy process.

“Aled is a constant presence in our town. After just a year in the community, he is part of our fabric, part of what makes Llanelli what it is. I believe Aled deserves this award as he has not just helped one person or one family, he has helped an entire community to begin to love and feel safe in their town again.”

PCSO NADIA LLOYD, PEMBROKE DOCK, PEMBROKESHIRE DIVISION:
PCSO Nadia Lloyd has been nominated for her across Pembroke Dock; an ever-present face, engaging young and old.
This is what you told us about Nadia:
"My daughter wants to join the police she is living proof that the youngsters will engage with the police if handled properly… Nadia, she’s the people’s policewoman!!”

PCSO CARWYN PHILLIPS, FISHGUARD, PEMBROKESHIRE DIVISION:
Nominated for his willingness to get involved, PCSO Carwyn Phillips has been described as an integral part of the community in Fishguard, and a lifeline for many young people.

Here are some of the things other people have said about Carwyn:

“Carwyn is also our first port of call when we have a young person who has needed to report something. The young people we work with often find reporting crimes difficult, but having Carwyn as that first contact, makes a stressful and scary situation, easier for young people.”

“He is so well-liked around the town, he must be one of the most popular people in the area. He'll attend all the community events and always helps out where he can. He must know so many kids in the area, he must know them all by name and they all have the same respect for him too. I personally think he is fantastic and deserves every award going.”

PCSO MIRANDA WHATELY, LLANDRINDOD WELLS, POWYS DIVISION:
PCSO Miranda Whateley has been nominated for her presence in the community and her commitment to helping those who are most vulnerable.

This is the difference that Miranda has made to one family, providing invaluable help at a time when they needed it the most:

“Miranda is a very visible PCSO in the area, but not only that, she has been incredibly helpful to my family. My husband has a rare form of dementia and Miranda has been compassionate as well as very helpful with practical advice. She provided information and assistance for my husband to be added to the Pegasus scheme. Without Miranda's care and knowledge we would not have that added security.”
