As a Service, it’s important that we operate effectively and efficiently, and are fully agile and adaptable, in continuing to deliver a high-quality, best value fire and rescue service, through our two strategic priorities of Making our Communities Safer and Making our Service Stronger.

We recognise we can only truly be this if we fully understand what is expected of us from local people and therefore have a duty to talk and listen to members of the public, our staff and our partners to make sure we continue to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

We also have a statutory requirement for budget setting as a Service, which includes consulting with members of the business community, specifically with reference to any proposed changes in the level of non-domestic rates prior to budgets being finalised.
 
At its meeting on 16 December 2020, the Fire Authority considered the Financial Planning Framework and 2021/22 Annual Budget Setting Process. You can find a copy of the full paper presented to Members here for your information and consideration.

In regularly consulting with our local business communities on this process, we can gain a better insight into and understanding of their views on our fire prevention work, interactions with the Service and levels of satisfaction with regards to the service they receive.
                                                                                                                                                           
The comments and feedback gathered from this consultation process will also help inform key decision making within the Service and where we need to make investment or find future savings, to ensure the Service remains value for money.

We would ask that you take the time to complete this brief, 10 minute survey, to ensure the views of the business community are included and help shape the way we work and enable us to continue responding to local needs and public expectation. 

The closing date for the consultation is Wednesday 13th January 2021 and the responses received will help inform the 2021/22 budget setting process, which will be submitted to Avon Fire Authority for approval on 10th February 2021.
