Personal Support Parent Survey

Within Curriculum for Excellence, (CfE), there are six entitlements for all children and young people, one of which relates to Personal Support - "every child and young person is entitled to Personal Support to enable them to gain as much as possible from the opportunities which CfE can provide" (Building the Curriculum 3, 2008).  Schools have been tasked to provide all young people with frequent and regular opportunities to discuss their learning with an adult who knows them well and who can act as a mentor, helping them to set appropriate goals for the next stages in learning.  The Peebles High School model offers young people one period of Personal Support a week, during which young people will either have a learning conversation with their teacher or will have the opportunity to do some supervised personal study, homework, revision etc.  This is our first year of offering Personal Support and we are seeking feedback from all stakeholders - young people, staff and parents so that we can reflect on the initiative and develop this further next session.
