Introduction

Under the Serious Violence Duty, specified authorities must work together to plan, prevent and reduce serious violence which is supported by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Cheshire in a convening capacity.  Partner authorities are required to complete a Serious Violence Strategic Needs Assessment (SNA) to understand how violence is affecting their communities and to prepare a strategy response.
The Serious Violence Duty guidance allows the definition of ‘Serious Violence’ and scope of what is included in this definition to be agreed at a local level.  At this stage, we are including a wide definition of serious violence which will include homicide, serious assault, knife/gun crime, but will likely expand to include VAWG, domestic abuse, modern slavery/exploitation and sexual offences.
A place-based multi-agency approach to violence prevention also has community consensus at its heart and it is a requirement that approaches taken should be designed with and for local communities.
We are keen to ensure the views of those working with people involved in, vulnerable to or impacted by all types of serious violence, and the views of those working on the ground with communities, are given the opportunity to share their views and experiences as part of the development of the Serious Violence Strategy.  Dependent on your role, this may be victims and/or perpetrators of serious violence or communities/young people at risk of becoming involved in serious violence.  It may be that some of the questions are not relevant to you/your experience/role and so please leave these blank as necessary.
Individual responses to the survey will be anonymised and reported only by organisation type.  An Independent Research Consultant is collating the responses; no individual data will be collected except where participants would like to be kept informed of/involved in the development of the Serious Violence Strategy.

Please complete the survey by ticking the box next to the answer you wish to give or typing in the space provided.
