As Chair of the Knowledge and Skills work stream of the MHCLG Parks Action Group(PAG) I want to seek your views on some key questions that have emerged from the comprehensive research ‘Nurturing Skills for 21st Century Parks’ conducted into the current and future requirements for Parks Management in England.
The PAG intends to develop a ‘greenprint’ for Knowledge and Skills for the sector that will last for the next decade and beyond. Of fundamental importance to this is the competency framework developed through the research. This framework is attached to the email you received with a link to this survey. Whilst this has already been consulted on extensively we would appreciate any further views on this.
The PAG would also welcome responses on how organisations are placed to deliver training on the competencies identified. We would also welcome views from institutes or organisations who would be prepared to formally recognise these competencies as part of a career path for those in Parks Management and award Parks Managers recognition for the successful achievement and retention of these competencies.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Paul O'Brien, APSE Chief Executive, Chair of the Knowledge and Skills Workstream, Parks Action Group
